Desert Hot Springs, CA – (October 7, 2011) – Over 200 people attended Thursday’s grand opening of the Capri Restaurant in its new home at Miracle Springs Resort & Spa. Guests included three generations of the Santucci family, including Capri founders John Sr. and Julia Santucci, as well as many longtime regulars of the restaurant.

A ceremonial ribbon was cut by Chef Anthony Santucci and Miracle Springs president Mike Bickford, eliciting cheers and shouts of congratulations from the audience. “This is an exciting day for Miracle Springs and Desert Hot Springs as well. I’m so glad we’ve been able to bring this great restaurant to our hotel,” said Bickford.

Thanking his family and all the well-wishers for their support, Chef Santucci said, “We’re going to continue serving the traditional Capri favorites while introducing new dishes inspired by the latest cooking trends.”

The first look at the new menu created quite a buzz among the guests, many remarking on how low the prices are in comparison with the Capri’s former menu. For example, full dinner with a 16-ounce New York Steak is just $19.00.

The Capri Restaurant specializes in authentic classical Italian and Santucci family recipes, hand-cut to order dry-aged steaks, homemade Italian sausage and meatballs, homemade desserts and using seasonal local produce.

The Capri Restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 7 am to 9 pm; Friday and Saturday from 7 am to 10 pm.

Based on the other tripadvisor reviews, which emphasized slow service, I would have avoided this place, but our innkeeper said it was genuinely good. She was right! Great Italian home cooking- as good as I’ve had on multiple trips to Italy. And the service was fine- no long waits at all. If you like fresh, well made, tasteful Italian cooking; this is an outstanding restaurant, surprising in a windy, desert town. Ask to be seated in the front room, which is much nicer. And enjoy!

A family owned and operated Italian dining spot. great food made to order at very reasonable prices. Everything they make is superb. The Eggplant Pam/Pasta/ Meats/ all hand cut generous portions and selection of great drinks.

“Meat like I’ve never eaten!”

This place had the best steak ( a HUGE filet) I’ve ever eaten. It’s not a fancy place but the owner was very nice and it was a fun evening. My wife had lasagna that was also excellent. This is the kind of place you’d normally pass by (bars on the windows, etc) but I’ll be more easy-going from now on thanks to my experience at Capri. This place is worth the effort, even if you’re staying in Palm Springs.
